This family session at the Bonneville Salt Flats was so much fun. We had the prettiest light, the mountains were showing off, and this family made my job way too easy.
I always love getting the traditional family photos, but the laughing, walking, messing around, and just being together are usually the images I end up loving the most. Those are the moments that actually feel like you.
The Salt Flats are seriously one of my favorite places to photograph families because you really don’t need much else. The scenery is already incredible, and it gives us so much room to just move around, have fun, and create photos that don’t feel stiff or overly posed.

A Surprise Proposal at the Bonneville Salt Flats: A Dreamy Engagement Shoot
She thought it was just a fun shoot on their travels… but he had a sparkling surprise planned. What started as a casual photo session at the Bonneville Salt Flats turned into a once-in-a-lifetime moment when he got down on one knee and asked the love of his life to marry him. And the best part? She had no idea.
We planned every detail behind the scenes to make sure she was truly surprised, and wow—her reaction was everything. From the shock to the tears to the laughter, it was pure magic. Then, just like that, we rolled into an engagement session full of dreamy light, epic skies, and allll the love.
Oh—and can we talk about their outfits? Her black mini skirt, white tank, cowgirl boots, and that hat? Perfection. His simple style made sure the spotlight stayed on her… though his hair (and beard!) had their own main character moment. But HER hair? Actual goals.
It was one of those sessions where the love, excitement, and joy were palpable. I’m still not over it.
